      INTRODUCTION TO YOUR LOCAL NABD

Welcome to the section of Biker's Lot that has been dedicated to the NABD
The National Association for Bikers with a Disability

NABD is an association that is a Registered Charity; there are no branch's or areas within the association, it is run by the elected National Committee, this ensures a uniformed association, ensuring the stringent Charity Commission rules are adhered to.

So how do you make contact locally? Well scattered around the country are the Representatives, the Rep's and Rep's Assistants work to promote and assist locally as well as nationally, Reps are in most parts of the country.

Of course there are gaps on the map: In general your nearest Rep will generally be your port of call, anyone who finds them selves a distance away from a Rep; head office is only a phone call away.

Where there are gaps on the map, these can always be filled by willing, existing members who are either already experienced in all things NABD or are willing to learn more for the purposes of helping others.

Were always looking for suitable people to fill these posts, so you never know what's around the corner; its how I started as a Rep

The NABD

My name's Mark, better known as Cobra, I'm a Representative for the NABD based near Highbridge, Somerset.

NABD members encouraged me; they showed me that despite my disability, I could still ride a bike and once again enjoy biking. Once I was back on the road all I wanted to do was to put something back in and show others that you can.

For me, it gave me the feeling that I was worth something again and still of some benefit to society; Its a priceless feeling of worth for me.

Along with the Assistant Rep, Accredited Volunteers and the members, we continue to promote and assist disabled riders: We all feel very privileged to be a part of NABD.

This is Ron, better known as Bang Bang. Ron came to our very first local meet, a veteran when it comes to bikes and biking, an x-patch member and a very experienced rider with many invaluable contacts from all walks of life.

Everywhere you go, regardless of what country your in; if your with Ron, someone will step out of a bush from no ware and say hello Ron and then great story's unfold.

There are many things Ron does as Rep's Assistant, but over all others he has found his calling in organising our RideOut's; he's done as many as three in a month during summer periods, allowing the busiest member the opportunity of a RideOut, even around their work or other commitments..

Were a friendly bunch, if not slightly mad and enjoy a relaxed get together.

The success here and the regular attendance has only happened because of the fantastic support we have received from members, local bikes clubs, everyday bikers, business's and other associations such as our local MAG (Motorcycle Action Group).

If you like what you see, why not come along to a local meet, no one here is going to badger you for membership or ram stuff down your throat. In the mean time don't blame me if you end up joining the NABD only to find you don't want to ever leave.

If you want to find out more about NABD; ask away, you may need some help or advice; I don't bite or charge, you may know someone disabled who could do with some help or someone able bodied who would like to help.

The NABD isn't just for the disabled, we have able bodied members as well everyone gets something out of being part of NABD.

If your doing a rally or event in aid of NABD then you can click the link and add it to the NABD events list.
